My career as an EFL instructor
at Apollo is benefited, I am sure, by the
wide variety of fields I have trained and
worked in throughout my professional life
– fields such as business, accountancy,
media, marketing, hospitality, tourism, and
childcare. All of these jobs in these professions
have developed my communication skills and
customer (or client, or student) focus into
providing the best possible service for the
individual or group required, and given me
an excellent grounding for helping the students
of Apollo increase THEIR communication skills
– specifically their English abilities
– to the highest levels.
I am extremely fortunate to be given the
opportunity to teach at Apollo. I have had
the pleasure to work in or observe several
highly-regarded schools in Vietnam and elsewhere,
and strongly believe that Apollo is the
best-resourced, best-staffed, and in general
best school in which my teaching skills
can be developed. And we also have the best
students…
Despite traveling previously through dozens
of countries and living and working in four,
there is a feeling of joy and of hope and
of energy in Vietnam which I have never
experienced anywhere before. It’s
as if the country has embraced the opportunities
available to it, embraced its huge potential
for growth, and embraced the world. And
one of the strongest ways it is doing that
is in its embrace of the English language.
I consider myself honored to be now living
and working in Vietnam, at such an exciting
time. The Vietnamese people are always friendly,
generous and welcoming, and if I stay in
Vietnam for twelve more months or for twelve
more years, once I leave here I will never
forget one special thing – the Vietnamese
people’s smiles. In the streets –
and in the classrooms. Their friendly, natural
smiles. Well, that and the motorbikes. And
the pho. And the ao dais…
