As part of the summer English reinforcement program, our center offered monthly
Outside Course Activities Programs (OCAPs) for different age groups, with many
special activities led by experienced native English-speaking teachers. The
summer program provided the most favourable conditions for learners to practice
English; in addition to hours of daily study, the friendly and cheerful
environment helped learners to develop confidence in their communication skills.
The Mini Gala took place on August 31st, 2008 at Apollo Tran Xuan Hoa, District
5 and was attended by Apollo students and visitors, including students’ parents
and their families.
Each class performed its own part in the show (involving singing solo, singing
in groups, etc) and was directed by the class teacher. In addition, there were
many short dramas on diverse subjects. The show provided an opportunity for all
learners not only to display their talents, but also to improve their teamwork
capabilities. Students were also able to learn and practice specific English
vocabulary and expressions relevant to the different topics of the show.
The show also featured a performance by students studying at the Apollo center
at 26 Phung Khac Khoan Street, District 1, which added a special collaborative
element to the program. In addition, there were many amusing games with special
prizes accepted enthusiastically by students. A lucky lottery took place at the
end of the program. Prizes included two scholarships from Apollo, each worth 50%
of the cost of one course, which were given to two lucky learners, Huynh Hoc Lam
and Hoang Quoc Viet.
The show closed with the song “If You’re Happy and You Know It”, sung by all
students attending the program in an atmosphere full of fondness, laughter and
applause.
This show helped to strengthen the relationship between Apollo and the students’
parents, who had a chance to watch their children perform confidently on stage.
It showcased the achievements of both students and teachers of the Apollo Tran
Xuan Hoa summer English reinforcement program.
