Malaspina University-College (Nanaimo, BC) International Student Scholarships

The following scholarships are available for new international students and are applied to the student’s second academic term. The award is $1,000 CAD ($886 USD) in tuition credit and is available to students entering in the fall term.
The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Entrance Scholarship is open to new international students with an IB diploma.
The Malaspina English Language Program Achievement Award is available to two Malaspina English Language Program international student level 5 graduates who demonstrate outstanding achievement in their final 2 semesters of Malaspina University Preparation Program ESL studies. No application is necessary.
• The Malaspina International High School International Excellence Award is available to two Malaspina International High School international student graduates who demonstrate outstanding achievement in their final academic year of studies. No application is necessary.

Trent University (Peterborough, o­ntario). All students applying to Trent University will automatically be considered for the Trent University Entrance Scholarships awarded for academic excellence. These range in value from $1,000 CAD ($886 USD) to $2,500 CAD ($2,224 USD).
In addition, there are 4 Trent International Global Citizen Scholarships based o­n high academic achievement, community and/or international service, excellent record of extra-curricular activities and leadership:
• Trent International Full Scholarships are worth $22,000 CAD (approximately $19,496 USD) per academic year and cover tuition and fees and may also include books, health insurance, room and board. Financial need is a consideration in this award.
• Trent International Tuition Scholarships. These offer $14,000 CAD (approximately $12,400 USD) per academic year and cover tuition, ancillary fees, and health insurance.
• Trent International Levy Tuition Scholarships are open to students from developing countries and are worth $14,000 CAD (approximately $12,400 USD) per academic year. The award covers international tuition, ancillary fees, and health insurance and is available to o­ne student per year.
• Trent International Awards are based o­n high academic achievement and a good record of extra-curricular activities. Preference is given to top candidates in a scholarship competition. The award is $1,000-$3,000 CAD (approximately $886 – $2,660 USD).

Humber College Institute of Technology & Advanced Learning (Toronto, Canada) International Student Entrance Scholarships. All new international students will be considered for entrance scholarships based o­n past academic achievement and involvement in extracurricular activities. The value of the scholarships is $1,000 CAD ($886 USD). A scholarship application will be included in the acceptance packages of eligible international students. There are eight scholarships for new international students beginning in the September semester, three for the January semester and o­ne for the May semester. The International Leader of Tomorrow program at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC provides awards ranging in value from $14,000 CAD ($12.460 USD) to $34,000 CAD ($30,300 USD) for international students who can demonstrate financial need plus an exceptional level of scholastic achievement, extracurricular achievement and leadership abilities. Applicants must be attending a secondary or post-secondary school in Canada and must be nominated by that school. For further information, visit: www.welcome.ubc.ca/finance.cfm.

University of Guelph Entrance Scholarships are offered to international students studying in Canadian high schools, entering their first semester at the university. The scholarship provides a maximum of 15% of the tuition cost (usually between $2,000 CAD ($1,800 USD) and $3,000 CAD ($2,700 USD). For more information visit: www.uoguelph.ca.


The P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship offers $8,000 USD toward o­ne year of study for international women pursuing a graduate degree in the U.S. or Canada. The applicant must be enrolled full-time in a graduate program and have at least o­ne year of study remaining. For further information visit: www.peointernational.org.
The Province of o­ntario’s o­ntario Graduate Scholarship program is designed to encourage excellence in graduate studies at the master’s and doctoral levels. It offers an annual award of $5,000 CAD ($5,450 USD) (for 2007-2008) for two or three consecutive terms. Sixty award recipients will be international students. Eligible students must be enrolled full time in an approved graduate program leading to a master’s or doctoral degree at an o­ntario university that is financially assisted by the Government of o­ntario.  The Sauvé Scholars Program was established in November 2002 by the Jeanne Sauvé Foundation. The Program is a unique opportunity for highly motivated people of demonstrated leadership potential, who are under the age of thirty. They come to Montreal where they have an opportunity to enlarge upon their understanding of the state of the world and their potential in making positive change to it.

Under the terms of an agreement with McGill University, the Scholars are given open-door access to all courses and programs at McGill. Scholars audit whatever classes they wish. However they do not write exams nor do they earn academic credits.

Each scholarship is worth approximately $30,000CDN ($27,100 USD). It includes the cost of transportation to and from Montreal, food and lodging while here, group excursions and certain other expenses.
