Staying in touch with family and friends while you are studying overseas is naturally important to you. Doing so while in Singapore will be easy, as it is one of the world’s most connected cities. Telecommunications There are three service operators, namely SingTel (www.singtel.com), MobileOne (http://m1.com.sg) and StarHub (www.starhub.com), each offering a range of communication services at competitive rates, including: Telephone services (land lines and mobile phones) Internet access services International telephone services, including IDD services and calling cards Phone cards (calling cards) are generally the least expensive option for making international calls. They are issued in denominations of S$2, S$5 S$10, S$20 and S$50 and can be purchased from post offices, phone card agents and from convenience stores (such as 7-Eleven) and other retail outlets. Post Offices
Singapore Post (SingPost) has more than 60 main branches and over 80 authorised agencies throughout Singapore. Most outlets are open Mondays to Fridays, 8.30am - 5pm and until 1pm on Saturdays. In addition, there are 24-hour Self-service Automated Machines (SAMs) at post offices, supermarkets, shopping complexes and major MRT stations. At SAMs you can purchase stamps and postage labels, as well as pay bills and fines, renew licences and add money to your mobile phone pre-paid card.
