WHY STUDY PRONUNCIATION?

Consider the following sentences. Which o­ne takes the longest to say?

1. That man
2. That’s the man
3. That was the man
4. That could be the man

The answer is – they all take about the same*(*When said by a native speaker in natural speech)

CONFUSED?

This answer might sound strange but isn’t strange at all if you understand something about the system of pronunciation in English.

• Understanding the English system of pronunciation can help to build your confidence when you communicate with foreigners from English - speaking countries.
• If you understand how the system works, then you’ll have a better idea of what to expect to hear when you’re listening, which can make you a better listener.
• You’ll also have a better idea of what other people will be expecting to hear when you’re speaking, which can make you easier to understand.

COURSE STRUCTURE

This course is suitable for learners of intermediate level and above who want to address the specific pronunciation difficulties that Vietnamese learners have when speaking English. This course is 36 hours in length.
